[The Anchor Drop Newsletter] 3 Things About Anchor & Inks/Custom Birthday Card/Holiday Sneak Peeks

3 Things About
Anchor & Inks

  1. Why The Anchor in Anchor And Inks? The anchor has held a special place in my heart my whole life.
First and foremost, I am drawn to the sea - always have been. It's where I feel most at home and most myself, and the anchor is the most recognizable symbol of the sea. Second, it's all about what the anchor symbolizes. Anchors are steadfast, reliable, solid and hold true even in the worst of storms. This is the symbol that best represents the way I feel about remaining connected to those we love. It best illustrates the reason to continue sending happy mail - give those relationships an anchor to tie themselves to on the good days and in the worst of storms.
Third, we're a Navy family - that reason just writes itself!
  2. Anchor And Inks cards are blank inside for a reason. Sure, some of the sayings inside other company's cards are cute or funny, but a lot of the time, they're just a bit too much. I feel strongly that being authentic in the way you communicate with "your people" is the best way to show them you truly care. It's not always easy to stare at a blank card and figure out what to write, but I guarantee that your own personal message will mean more to the recipient than any pre-printed catchy or cutesy phrase ever will. True, heartfelt words are the best way to show someone you really care. And, you don't have to write a novel - just be yourself and write what you want them to know. Looking for some help with what to write? Check out my blog post HERE for some tips and tricks. Oh, and one more thing - your handwriting is perfect just the way it is because it is part of you. You share a piece of yourself each time you write and send a card - what a gift!
  3. I design each and every one of my cards, and then produce each one by hand. I pride myself on attention to detail and crafting something that I can be proud to sell, and you can be proud to send to those you love. Texture and dimension are what set Anchor And Inks cards apart from so many others on the market. They are not flat, pre-printed cards, but tiny dimensional works of he{art} meant to be cherished, displayed, saved and re-read again and again. You can be sure that when you send Anchor And Inks cards, they will be loved and appreciated.

Custom Birthday Card

Recently, I was asked by a local bank to design a custom birthday card for one of their customers in honor of her 100th birthday. They had seen the custom bouquet graduation card that I made last year, and asked if I could do something similar using Fall flowers and colors. The result was a big hit. I hope it helps to brighten her milestone birthday!

Didn't know that I do custom work? I sure do! Click the "Custom Work" tab on my website or click the button below to find out all the details on how to get your own custom cards.

The Holidays Are Coming!

A few weeks back I shared sneak peeks at a few of this year's newest holiday cards. Well, I'm back with a sneak peek at ALL of this year's newest holiday cards. There will be some returning favorites as well, but you'll have to wait to see those when they go live in the Shop on October 10th.

I'm still working on Bottle Tags, gift tags and gift enclosures, but I'll certainly give you a peek at those when they're ready. Can't wait to show you the full cards, but for now, enjoy these peeks!

Quote Of The Week

"I think if I do nothing else on this earth than make people feel a little more loved at a time when they feel alone, then I've served my purpose well."

Sharing Makes You Vulnerable Sharing unlocks a new level of vulnerability. It is truly terrifying for me to put my work out into the world and sharing it on social media is that next level terrifying. Wading through that vulnerability can be draining. I am a private person and VERY few people truly KNOW me. I don't overshare, I curate what I allow people to know. That's not a malicious act, I have no intention of manipulating anyone, it's an act of self-preservation. I was born with the...

Snail Mail? Really?? Some may say that sending actual mail is for old people. It’s outdated. It’s not worth it. WHAT??!! Have you ever seen the reaction of someone who just pulled happy mail out of their mailbox instead of bills, junk or yet another flyer from the HOA? That’s priceless! I’ve never met anyone who hates getting happy mail, just sayin’. Prove me wrong. It’s a fast-paced tech-obsessed, disposable world. Often harsh, unfeeling, and impersonal. Do you end your day feeling a bit out...

Finally, Sending Cards and Letters Is Cool Again! Truth be told, sending cards and letters was never really uncool, it was mostly relegated to sending birthday cards, but for some it was forgotten altogether and replaced with tech. I am so excited that the trend is swinging back towards all things analog. Yes, digital has its advantages, but there is NOTHING that compares to a hand written note from someone who cares enough to spend a little extra time and effort on you. Finally, the analog...
